Jen Barber was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2010. As a young single mother of two, Jen’s heroic battle with cancer is sure to tug at your heart strings. Hear Jen’s full story now.
I was born and raised in the small, college town of Crete, Nebraska. It’s located in the Blue River Valley, 28 miles from Lincoln and 87 miles from Omaha, Nebraska. I attended Southeast Community College of Lincoln after graduating high school, wanting to help people overcome personal obstacles.
In 2001, I became a Social Service Worker for the State of Nebraska helping families, women, and children in need. I decided to return to school in 2007, to obtain my Bachelor’s degree from Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska. Ever since, I have worked for the State of Nebraska in the CSE Finance Division of Health and Human Services. I enjoy volunteering for various charities within the community including the American Cancer Society.
Blessed with two boys, Joshua, 15, and Nicholas, 11, I am busy following their football, basketball, and baseball games year round. I love watching them compete! In my spare time, I enjoy being near the water, listening to music, working out, reading, photography, wine, and our chocolate lab, Copper.
