Dr. Cary Peterson earned his medical degree in 1982 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He then completed a three-year residency in internal medicine and a two-year fellowship in medical oncology and hematology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He entered private practice in Lincoln, NE in 1987.

Dr. Peterson is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the Nebraska Medical Association, the Lancaster County Medical Society, and is an affiliate member of the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center. Other professional activities include: Investigator, Nebraska Lymphoma Study Group; Investigator, Missouri Valley Cancer Consortium/National Cancer Institute Community Clinical Oncology Program; and Past Director, Community Blood Bank.

Dr. Peterson has a strong interest in all areas of cancer medicine and blood diseases. He is interested in finding the best and least toxic therapy for each patient. He also wants patients to be fully informed about their disease processes and all therapeutic options.

His wife, Lisa, is a family physician in Lincoln, and they have 3 children. In their spare time they enjoy family time and activities such as boating, snow skiing and attending performances, especially dance, musical theater and volleyball. Dr. Peterson also collects antique maps. He is especially interested in those pertaining to the Great Plains and Nebraska.
