Chemo and Cooking

Deciding what to eat can be a challenge; throw chemotherapy into the mix and meal planning can become even more difficult. Many cookbooks have tackled the topic of menus based on nutrition-related symptoms experienced by many cancer patients. If you do not have a cookbook handy, there are many options available on the web to help with meal planning.

An excellent resource available at your fingertips is a website cookforyourlife.org/recipes. Cook for your Life is a great nutrition resource for patients through the spectrum of cancer care. In addition, there are pictures of many of the recipes, which can also trigger appetite that is helpful when food isn’t appealing.

If you are a patient and have questions about your diet, please ask your oncologist at your next appointment about receiving a complimentary nutritional session with Melanie Mitchell, SNCC Registered Dietitian.
